Meetings

ASHRAE April DINNER Seminar 4-2-18

Topic – The Richmond Construction Marketplace: Past, Present and Future

Speaker – Mark J. Hourigan, Founder and CEO - Hourigan

Board Meeting: 4:30pm Event Cost $25 Per Person RSVP REQUIRED Cocktail hour and heavy hors d'oeuvres: 5:30pm Open bar courtesy of TLA Inc. Presentation: 6:30pm Location: VCU School of Engineering West Hall Lobby 601 W Main St, Richmond, VA 23220 Parking available on street or in nearby West Main Street Parking Deck (801 W. Main St.) This meeting will be a special evening event to take the place of our normal lunch meetings. This will be a “Student Night” where we will invite all VCU ASHRAE members and honor all scholarship recipients at the VCU School of Engineering. Abstract – Mr. Hourigan will be providing a historical perspective on the Richmond marketplace, current activity and future trends. Bio - Founder and CEO Mark Hourigan has more than 35 years of experience in the commercial construction and real estate development industry.  His ability to understand the big picture, coupled with his keen eye for detail, consistently allow him to focus on the drivers of success for Hourigan’s clients. Acting as a champion for innovation and fostering a consultative approach, he has instilled a discipline for continuous improvement throughout the organization. Mark’s commitment to developing people to their fullest potential is evident in the team he has assembled at Hourigan, as well as the formal Mentor-Protégé relationships he has established with minority firms in the region. Growing the next generation of industry leaders is another passion and one that has led to a role on the Advisory Board at the Virginia Tech School of Building Construction. In this role, he serves as a guest lecturer, assists in developing curriculum, sponsors internships and provides real world experience by integrating the students into Hourigan projects. As a trusted voice at the table, Mark’s “buck stops here” leadership not only benefits clients, owners and sub-contractors, but goes beyond the profession and into the community, where he serves on numerous boards. Mark holds a Bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College and an MBA from the University of Richmond. He enjoys spending time with his family

Scholarships

Recognizing the need to support the future members of our chapter, The Richmond Chapter founded the Frederick J. Weiss memorial Scholarship. In 1998 the Chapter lost its Secretary when Robert 'Bobby' Blue died unexpectedly. The Chapter immediately established a second scholarship in his honor.

2018 Richmond ASHRAE Chapter Golf Outing

Monday, June 11, 2018 at Hermitage Country Club  We are back at Hermitage Country Club in Goochland. We have opportunities for sponsors to help cover the cost and still have a fund raising event. A box lunch and driving range is included for all golfers.   Four Man Captain’s Choice Prizes will be awarded to the top 5 teams. Closest to the pin and longest drive contests will be awarded as individual prizes.
